The answer to the frequently asked question "Is there anything to do in the area?" is standard: so much that you will be short of time!
Camping Polleur borders a forest area of no less than 400 hectares. Great for hiking or exploring on a mountain bike. But Camping Polleur is also the ideal base for visiting picturesque villages and towns.
Put on your hiking boots and walk straight into the forest from the campground. You can have a wonderful walk here and discover new paths every time. Our campground is located by a river which allows you to take beautiful walks.
At the reception you can get several described hiking trails. Some start directly from the campsite, others require a short car ride. The reception desk also sells a hiking map of the area with several hiking trails on it.
NOTES. Please note that the forest is not accessible for several days during hunting season.
The area around Polleur campground is characterized by its many forests, steep hills and rocky descents. It is therefore a popular destination for mountain bikers.
Camping Polleur is the place to be for a great mountain bike weekend with friends. At the end of a challenging route, you can hose down your mountain bike at our trailhead. After a well-deserved shower you can enjoy a delicious meal and refreshing beer in our bar/bistro.
Less than three kilometers from the campground, three unique trails start. The different routes each have their own level and distance. If you would like more information please ask at the reception.
Through Spa Adventure, it is possible to rent mountain bikes and e-mountain bikes at our campsite. More information can be found on their website.
Exploring the Ardennes by bike is only possible with a bike with enough gears or an electric bike. For cyclists, the Ardennes are a challenging area to cycle. In the area you will find challenging passes from the famous cycling classics.
Less than an hour's drive from the campground are many picturesque villages and towns such as Monschau, Limbourg, Durbuy, Liege and Maastricht. Nearest places are Polleur, Theux and Spa.
Camping Polleur gets its name from the neighboring village of Polleur. It is a small Ardennes village with an attractive church.
About 4.5 kilometers from the campground is the town of Theux. Among other things, Theux is famous for its medieval architectural heritage (Franchimont castle and church). A visit to the Chateau Franchimont is therefore a real must.
The town of Spa is a 10-minute drive from the campsite. In the middle of the Ardennes lies this beautiful old town. This city lends itself well to being discovered on foot. A Dutch-language route can be picked up at the tourist office and will take you past the various highlights of the city. In June to September there is also a tourist train that allows you to explore the city. Spa is known for its thermal baths, as well as the Spa water. It is possible to visit the factories of Spa from Monday to Friday. Every Sunday an antique market is organized in Spa.
